Hello there,

Welcome to newyellowshoes! I’m Ilona, and I’m a[n aspiring] writer. After many [many many many] [can you tell I like using brackets a lot?] blogs, most of which ended in some way or another (forgot, got bored, etc) I have made a 2011 new years’ resolution that I’m going to write something at least once a week. You’ll find mostly fiction/”creative nonfiction” here, with a great deal of posts containing my various rants, observations, musings, etc. why yellow shoes? Well, the phrase, “new yellow shoes” (while actually not all that singular) comes from a play by Friedrich Durrenmatt called The Visit. But why I chose it: I’ve always liked yellow. It’s not among my favorite colors (turquoise and that shimmery-iridescent-navy color), but it’s always exuded this nice sort of enduring happiness for me. I mean, look at the picture–against the yellow backdrop it looks bright and shiny, but in the darkest photo it looks even cheerier.
